How to get to Sorrento

There is no airport in Sorrento, but the closest is Naples Capodichino International Airport. From Naples, there is the L1 train that goes directly to Sorrento. Alternatively, you can book a tour that includes stops in Sorrento, Pompeii, Capri, and Naples.

• Piazza Tasso
The Piazza Tasso is Sorrento’s main square and the best spot to visit when you first start exploring the town. This is where you’ll get an idea of how vibrant Sorrento is, with several main streets and laneways lined with cafes and bars.

• Marina Grande
The Marina Grande is a vibrant area of Sorrento filled with cafes and restaurants by the jetty. This charming area is great to go for a walk, spend time on the free beach, and admire the colourful homes. You can swim at the beach, but there is a limited swimming area due to the boats.

• Basilica Sant’Antonino
The Basilica Sant’Antonino is one of Sorrento’s largest and oldest churches. Located on Piazza Sant’Antonino, you might not even notice it as the church doesn’t look like a regular church! The interior has Roman artefacts, paintings and a beautiful gilded ceiling.

• The Ancient Walls of Sorrento
The Ancient Walls were built to protect Sorrento from invasions. Constructed in the 16th century, the walls are made of tufa stone, a type of limestone. Visiting the Ancient Walls is worth it if you’re a fan of history and archaeological sites.

You may want to spend around three days in Sorrento to allow plenty of time to see the attractions while also doing a day trip. You could also stay longer and do a few day trips like Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, and Capri to name a few.
